Anti-racism protests planned in Canada this weekend

Anti-racism protests planned in Canada this weekend

Anti-racism protests have swept across North America, with more slated for this coming weekend in Canada.

In response to the killing of George Floyd, an unnarmed Black man who was killed by Minnesota police officers last week, more than 400 protests took place in the U.S., with every single state holding its own

Up north in Canada, the death of 29-year-old Toronto woman Regis Korchinski-Paquet has sparked a similar wave of rallies calling for an end to anti-Black racism and police violence against Black and Indigenous communities.

Thousands have been hitting the streets in cities all over Canada for peaceful protests in support of Black Lives Matter (though things got ugly at the Montreal event) for the last week.
