Pets are campaigning to be the next mayor of a dog park in Canada
Pets campaigning to become the mayor of a Canadian dog park are the welcome distraction we all totally need right now.
Dog owners are likely missing their off-leash parks right now, but this cute election is the perfect way to celebrate outdoor spaces reopening.
There are now over 20 candidates in the running to be mayor of Mill Creek Off-Leash Dog Park in Edmonton right now, and not all of them are even dogs. Cats have also thrown their hats into the ring.
The winner of the election will be the representative of a donation to an Edmonton-based animal charity. Voters can use an online form to cast their ballots until midnight on May 14.
The campaigns have even included posters, smear tactics and voter fraud. One candidate, Indigo, even has their own doggie campaign video.
The candidates that seem to have the most support right now are a cat named Addie and dogs named Chloe, Tuna and Mateo, but since the results of an initial survey might be skewed, it's really anyone's game.
