Costco is now asking people in Canada to wear a face mask while shopping
Costco Canada is now asking shoppers to wear a face mask in stores, according to the latest update on the company's website.
"It is recommended that all Costco members and guests wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose, at all times while on Costco premises," the statement says.
The updated policy is in response to Canadian health experts officially recommending the use of masks or face coverings in public settings as of Wednesday.

However, Costco Canada says the new recommendation doesn't apply to children under the age of two or individuals who are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition.
The company also notes that wearing a mask is not a substitute for social distancing, and they ask customers to continue observing "appropriate distancing" while shopping.
Although Costco Canada is now asking shoppers to wear face masks, it continues to be voluntary, unlike Costco stores in the U.S. where shoppers have been required to wear a face mask since May 4.
