Netflix wants Canadians to pitch show ideas

Ever had an idea for a TV show or movie that you thought for sure could be a success?

Netflix is on a mission to bring more Canadian stories to the world, and they want you to send them your best pitches.

The streaming giants are giving Canadian storytellers an opportunity to develop their ideas into movies and TV originals.

"We are continuing our search to discover amazing stories from both seasoned storytellers and undiscovered talent all over Canada. Diverse and underrepresented stories told authentically are important to us," said Netflix in a statement on their website.

From  July 16 to Aug. 5, Netflix will accept pitch proposals from Canadian creators across a variety of categories, including a non-fiction series, an original animation show, an original series and an original independent film.

From these submissions, a number of creators will be invited to virtually meet with leaders on the Netflix content team.

Netflix recently commissioned action thriller Jusqu'au Declin (The Decline), after a pitch call to French-language producers in Quebec.

The initiative is the latest idea-generating scheme from the company following Impact x Netflix, which calls on writers from around the world to share their proposed projects, with the chance of having them developed.
