People living in Hamilton can't stop thinking the musical could have been about them
People all over the world have been excitedly sitting down to watch a recording of the smash hit Broadway show Hamilton since its release on Disney+ last week.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator and star of the hugely successful musical, decided to release the recording after live theatre ground to a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While many Canadians have watched the show since it started steaming last Friday, some people in Hamilton, Ont. were having a little fun at the thought of Hamilton actually being about their city.
YOOOOO I can't believe they wrote a whole musical about the city of Hamilton, ON, Canada 😂😂🤣

Taking to Twitter, multiple Canadians mused about the idea the show was about the city in Ontario, rather than U.S. founding father, Alexander Hamilton.
Watched Hamilton. No mention of Ti-Cats. Nothing about Stelco. Not one song about the escarpment. For a musical about the Canadian steeltown where my Dad grew up this one missed the mark for me. Zero stars.

Some people suggested they were disappointed by the fact that Canada wasn't mentioned once during the two-hour-and-thirty-minute show.
That post-Canada Day release on Disney+ is really misleading. Turns out there’s no Tony-winning Broadway musical dedicated to celebrating Hamilton, Ont.

While others argued that the Canadian port city by far outshines the Tony Award winning musical.
Hamilton the musical is MEH... Hamilton the Canadian city is YAY
