Celine Dion's mother has died and Canada is heartbroken
The mother of Céline Dion, Therese Dion, has died at age 92.
Canadians are mourning the loss of Therese Dion as she held cultural prominence in her own right, and was known affectionately as "Maman Dion".
Céline, Therese's youngest child of 13, expressed heartache over the loss on social media Friday, writing "Maman, we love you so much...We dedicate tonight’s show to you and I’ll sing to you with all my heart."
Céline is playing in Miami Florida tonight.
Canadians have been offering condolences to Therese Dion's family since the news broke of her death.

Dion's longtime publicist Francine Chaloult confirmed in a statement that Therese Dion died peacefully at home. She asked that the family's privacy be respected and said funeral details will be announced at a later time.

Therese was known for role as a host of a cooking show on TVA. She was also a sponsor of the Fondation Maman Dion, an educational foundation which provides school supplies and clothing to underprivileged children.
