Russell Brand just announced dates for Recovery tour in cities across Canada

Russell Brand in 2020 is not the Russell Brand we used to know.

Anyone who's been following the comedian, author and actor — and former addict — will know that he's found himself and completely changed his lifestyle in the past few years.

The partier-turned-sober motivational speaker and activist is now taking his newfound wisdom on tour, and he's going to be stopping in a few major Canadian cities.

In his Recovery Live shows, Russell will deviate from his previous brand (no pun intended) of comedy to instead talk about what he's learned about wellness, personal development and spirituality.

The shows will ostensibly serve as a much-expanded version of the star's recent inspirational podcasts and social media videos, in which he talks about mental health, drug use and more. They will also maintain his cheeky edge of humour, of course.

Brand says in a press release that with the live show, he aims to offer "an alternative vision for life at a time devoid of real values and connection."

Recover Live has five consecutive Canadian dates at various different types of venues in April 2020: at the Farquhar in Victoria on April 5, at the Orpheum in Vancouver on April 6, at St. James United Church in Montreal on the 7th, at the Carlton Dominion-Chalmers Centre in Ottawa on the 8th and at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto on April 9.

Tickets go on sale on Brand's website on December 19.
